Around the americas in 350 days
A lot of my friends are traveling this year whereas I am back in Panam.
As I just posted some pictures from Jonny Z, I'd like to take the occasion to mention my friends L&L who are traveling around the americas as a late and long honeymoon. They are missed and I hope that they enjoy their trip.

Around the world in 380 days
This week, I received a post card from my friend Jonny Z. (that's his nickname) from Laos ! He is traveling around the world with his gal Sham.
Yeahhh ! He is alive ! Ok ok, I knew he was alive because I often chat with him on MSN .....
But it's nice to have a trace on him ;)

Ne gravons pas nos noms au bas d'un parchemin ... or Just ask Google
(translated : Let's not sign our names at the bottom of this paper).
Tomorrow will be a banner day in my underwater life, I will have to say "Yes, I do".
No no no .... Don't be confused ... I am not getting married. I am going to see my Bank account counselor to sign my mortgage to buy an apartment. And the closer I get to the signing the more it makes me think. My counselor just called to asked If I had signed them already as if he wanted to be sure I was gonna do it. That's where the parallel with the marriage comes with the possible last minute snap ....

As I do in most case I need advice, I turn to my new online shrink "Google". I use Google in a lot of different occasions among them : simple web search, recipe search, technical geek search, finding my lost high school classmates search .
But recently I 've been asking Google more direct questions in the form of sentences like :
"Am I happy ?"
"hair loss and being a man"
"How can Mel Gibson adapt the passion ?"

So I decided to ask him about my decision (note as I assimilate Google to a male buddy).
I typed "Buy real estate before I get 30"
and "acheter un appartement a moins de 30 ans" (French version).
Well ... As I know from experience, always go to the 2 or 3 page of the listing to avoid the commercial scams. I learnt a lot about conditions to get mortgage, trap to avoid and how the growing young capitalistic Chinese population becomes home-owner. But nothing about my doubts and shit. I guess I have to find that on my own. Screw google !

Classic TV : magnum
Madly awaiting the release of "Starsky & Hutch" in Paris , I just had the opportunity to re-explore another TV hit from my youth : Magnum P.I. (or just Magnum in french). I ordered a bunch of cheap DvDs on cdiscount.com and one of them was "the best of Magnum" which contains 5 classic episodes of the show which TV career spanned 8 seasons.
Because of the delay of getting it in France, I assume that I was exposed to Magnum from the age of 6 to the age of 13 (something like that). I can assume that the vision of the show made me the man that I am now .......
I googled Magnum and found this nice fan website made by a German magnum fan.
So what makes Magnum so magic to me. To use the fan's words :
"It seemed to have all a great TV show needs: Action, humor and characters that seemed to be believable. I was amazed by the red Ferrari and the helicopter."
Here are some elements of the serie that had an impact on me, myself and I :
* Hawaii, where the show takes place, still has this fascinating appeal to me even if I know that it's a very common tourist's place. I've been wanting to go there for a while and I think about it as a pelerinage.
* Sharon Stone : well before "Basinc instinct", she was a B-movie star that you could have seen in Allan quaterman or Police Academy ', both from 1987. But I remember her as a guest star in a 2 episodes stint of Magnum, episodes from the 5th season. She was then a beautiful 26 years old actress.
* Ferrari : ...... No one drives a ferrari with class and the charisma of Thomas magnum, not even M. Schumacher !!!!
* Baseball,American football : different aspects of the US culture I was not used to a kid and that I appreciate after having lived in the US.
* Hawaiian shirts : this is something I appreciate and don't advertise a lot ;)

While browsing the fan site, I read something about the projects of turning the show into a movie with, maybe, Clooney as a character. Even If appreciate Clooney, I can't see anybody else but Tom Selleck for the part. Which is strange ebecause I don't have the same feeling about Stiller and Wilson taking on Glaser and Soul in "Starsky & Hutch". I guess I am just more careful about (My) Magnum .....

Deep Sea Angler .... WTF ???
I have to introduce the deep sea angler, this notorious fish ... This specimen came to my knowledge a few years ago after a friend of mine described him to me. Since then , it has haunted my dreams.

I found the following on the web:
"The male of the species is about the size of a finger and has small hook teeth which it uses to attach itself to the female. Once attached, its blood vessels join with that of the female and it will spend the rest of its life joined to her like a parasite, getting all of its nourishment from her body. If the male is unable to attach to a female, it will eventually dies of starvation."

I, Blog
I finally started my Blog. I decided to create itbecause I was tired to send emails with references to other articles. It 's much easier to post everything on a blog so that everybody can read it with few comments. Of course the list of diffusion is much larger than a simple email so some entries may not interest everybody. I'll try to satisfy all without turning into a mass media bullshit.
Also, I will ask the indulgence of the audience for my poor english. I could write in french but the audience would be even smaller than what it's intended to be.
