Barely missed it ....
We are so fool ... Everybody 's so concerned about his everyday life that we miss the most important facts. Everyday, Millions of asteroids can come and crash our tiny little self.
According to this article, An asteroid just missed Earth by "just" 26500 miles (~40 000 km), the closest ever observed. But we, humans, continue to fuck around about Weapons of Mass destruction ....
Voila, That was my point of the day. You can go back to clicking.

Poetry and Photos
Like many of you who own email addresses, I get tons of spams and virus in my email-box. I got used to them and can identify them easily and erase them. I don't even read their subject.... Maybe I should, it could inspire me like it inspires this person who creates Spam poetry. I particularly appreciate the one dated March 12th.

Last September, the first day after my arrival in Paris I got a new cell phone because I figured I could not live without one. I wanted a very small and simple but I got screwed by the France telecom dealer and picked up a big and complicated cell phone that looks like a big remote control. There was also a mail-in rebate that promised me a camera add-on for the cell phone. 2 days ago, I finally received the camera module (after more than 6 months waiting for it). I am not a big fan of cell phone camera but I was quite surprised by the quality of this shitty module. Here are 2 samples (here and there) of photos : the subject might be blurry or horrible but the quality is fine ......

Sign '@' the times
A few years ago, I had the opportunity to visit the Rock'n Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland. Located just in front of the lake, the museum is an amusing piece of architecure and entertainment.
Last week-end, took place the ceremony for the 2004 Hall of Fame inductees. Prince, one of the inductees, went onstage and delivered a premium performance of "Let's Go Crazy," "Sign 'O' the Times" and "Kiss". Roger Nelson, aka Prince, was born in 1958 and is certainly the youngest inductee in the R&R Hall of Fame. He is also the first one that I can really relate to as I was grawing up when he was entering the pop charts.
Also I appreciate fellow inductee G. Harrison, he is now a dead legend and, in my mind, relates more to the 60's and 70's.
Well the motive of this post is just to say I am really beginning to feel old if my childhood singer get inducted in Hall of Fame and kids call me "Monsieur" in the street (bald and not shaved for 5 days might help too) .....
Print that document , Bitch
I don't consider myself as a macho man and have always considered women as the equals of men.
But there's one field where women don't want to be compared to men : IT . I deeply send my respect to all women working as tech geeks all around the world and I think that the following news about a printer designed for women will certainly embarrass them and well as all women in general.
I am looking forward for a lipstick USB key (what the heck , a USB Swiss army knife already exists) !
Fashionista Techies, The market is yours ....
Freecycle my friends !
I read an interesting article in the NYtimes yesterday about freecycling a web projects for local community to get rid of their stuff by giving to each other instead of throwing out in the garbage.
I've been using craigsList a lot when I was in New York to look for jobs, apartment, furniture but I welcome a communauty project which motive is simply to give away stuff (because it's better for the environment to give away than throw away). I am now thinking about opening the Freecycling Paris chapter ....

PS : craigsList will soon be available in Paris version !!

Contest !
Check out this breaking news.
It basically says "Ladies and Gentlemen, We NEARLY got him", talking about Bin Laden, using the words of the US administrator in Irak when they "found" S. Hussein.
As I am tired about all this bullshit, I 'd like to ask the question :
When will Ben Laden be caught :
a) before the end of the week
b) in the next month
c) before the beginning of the summer
d) on the day of his birthday (which gives you March 10; April 7; June 28; July 28; July 30; and October 3 as I found these 5 dates on the net !! )
e) 3 days before the US presidential election.
As in "The price is right" rule, you have to be just before the actual date to win.
To the dickhead in the swimming pool
(because I don't have much to do at work today)
Those who know me are aware that my shape/weight can vary from normal to subnormal and to GuantanamoBay convict (see previous post ...) and come back to normal.
To keep in shape, I've been going to the swimming pool every Sunday since the beginning of the year. I quite enjoy waking up and going to the pool to do my 45 min swimming in my speedo. What I don't enjoy is the usual dickhead swimming with frenzy butterfly style (sometimes crawling) and taking the equivalent of 2,5 lines. I often get knocked down or I just have to reevaluate my direction every minute.
I just wanted the opportunity to insult you in this blog, you, asshole in the swimming pool, because I don't have the opportunity to do so during my swimming time (the official reason being that swimming time is meditation time and the officious being that the dickhead is to me what a whale is to the deepSeaAngler).
For those who want to see the result of this swimming time, I promise to post a picture in the next few days. Until then , I 'd have to find a (pacific) solution for next Sunday.
Manhattan as an Alcatraz
Yesterday, I was watching on TV an interview with a guy whose brother has been detained in Guantanamo Bay since February 2001 after being captured in Afghanistan. The brother was explaining that he hadn’t received a letter from the convict in 6 months.
I don’t want to debate here on whereas this convict is indeed a terrorist or on the rightfulness of the Guantanamo prison/jail because this is not that kind of blog.
I ‘d just like to dedicate this post to my friend A.J., aka Wacky Paky, who’s been hanging in New York for more than 2 years without being able to leave the US. He is not an illegal immigrant, he has been staying on working and student papers. But if he leaves the country, he would need his passport to be stamped again in order to come back in. Because of the geopolitical context, getting a stamp would take him months if not years …..
I guess for some people Manhattan is like an absurd form of Alcatraz, where you can find Cosmopolitan cocktails, the NY Knicks and a really nice Park.
I really hope that AJ will be able to visit me in Paris one day and I promise I will visit him soon.
In France, XXX is ok, $$$ is not
I signed my mortgage on saturday !
Here is an interesting article from the NYtimes (free subscription) about the relationship to money in France via recent films ....
